Biathlon in Khanty-Mansiysk

     The executive director of the Russian Biathlon Union answered some questions.

     - What is your opinion about the organization of the tournament, infrastructure and conditions for the athletes at the World Cup Final in Khanty-Mansiysk?.

     - The answer can be combined in one phrase: everything is very, very good. It includes the conditions for the athletes, and feeding conditions, and accommodation, and the preparation for competitions, and the organization. After the reconstruction the stadium became one of the best in Europe and in the world. As I was said. The Governor Natalia Komarova and a Chairman of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports Viktor Maygurov, said that there were some more details to do which were perhaps invisible. We think that Khanty-Mansiysk will hold the World Championship at a very high level. next season

     - There may be some strokes to which you would like to draw attention?

     - There is one organizational component. Before the competitions the passage area for the athletes must be somehow protected for the fans not to disturb them.This question is not crucial, but we must pay attention to it. I'm working in biathlon not so long, and can not say about all the necessary components, but I want to notice that the screen in the stadium could be done of a great solution. Today is a very snowy weather and it is not always possible to discern the names of the athletes and their time on the scoreboard. In my view, the region has everything in order to finalize all these details. But the most important thing is that there are people who know biathlon from inside they are the executive director of YugraInterSport Nikolai Bondarev, and an acting First Deputy Prime Minister Zapadnova Natalia and Victor Maygurov.

     - The sezon-2009/10 is completed. What are the outcomes for the Russian team?

     - In general, we can assume the performance of our national team as worthy. We have not failed at the Olympics and made good on the World Cup Final. We have individual prizes: Ivan Tcherezov is in the top three of overall standings; Eugene Ustyugov took a small crystal globe in the mass start. We have really progressive young athletes. Of course, we must pay attention to the following four years, to rise higher in the preparation of our young athletes, and not to forget about the leaders.

     - What are your impressions of being in Khanty-Mansiysk?

     - I’m for the second time in Khanty-Mansiysk. The number of sports facilities here per square kilometer is simply amazing. All are involved in the sport. The phenomenal city and phenomenal people. And the most important thing is that this all is done by people who invest their soul in sports.
