Anders Besseberg: "The World biathlon is on its top." The press conference with IBU President Anders Besseberg has taken its place at the Nordic Ski Center in Khanty-Mansyisk.

«This season was a success. There were no major problems with weather, delays or any negative aspects. All the events, as it was marked in the schedule, were held at the original time and original place. There were representatives of the new teams on the prize stage such as Kazakhstan, Croatia, Slovakia, Estonia and the U.S.. Much more fans were attracted to the biathlon competitions not only on the stadiums and before the television screens, but in Internet. And the interest between journalists grows», - said Anders Besseberg.

In accordance with the next season’s schedule the World Cup will start at the swedish Ostersund, then Hochfilzen (Austria), Pokljuka (Slovenia), after the Christmas holidays - in Oberhof (Germany) and Antholz (Italialy). In February, the Word Cup will be held in North America. And after the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk the season will end with the World Cup Final in Holmenkollen (Norway).

IBU President once again stressed the positive changes that have occurred at the Nordic Ski Center. «The new commentary positions, modern and comfortable wax cabins including dressing rooms have appeared at the first step of renovation in Khanty-Mansiysk. Major changes have happened at the start and finish area, the tunnel system, track sections and the stands. As the 2nd step it is considered to bring further important improvements for sport, media and hospitality infrastructure», – he noted.

Speaking about tomorrow’s mixed relay Anders Besseberg said that this discipline is very important for the International Biathlon Union, as it is planned to be integrated into the Olympic Program.
