Ivan Tcherezov is the winner of Sprint race

The winner of the men's Sprint race of the World Cup Final became Ivan Tcherezov (Russia). The second place took Christian de Lorenzi (Italy), who had lost Cherezov 13,8 seconds. The third - Andriy Derizemlya (Ukraine), the gap with the winner was 16.7 seconds.

Cold weather and changing wind seriously complicated the task for all the participants of the race. Nevertheless most of the leaders were able to cope with the nerves and finally their results were very tight - in the range of one minute were 21 members. In this situation even one penalty loop could appear an unaffordable luxury, which had been proved by Tcherezov and de Lorenzi whose clear shot helped them to take two first places. And the participants of the first start group Derizemlya and Christoph Zumann missed once while shooting prone, what did not allow them to interfere to the struggle for leadership. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen showed us clean shooting, but this time the great Norwegian athlete was not too fast, losing Cherezov more than 20 seconds in running.

In the struggle for the Small Crystal Globe in this discipline won Emil Hegle Svendsen (Norway), even the 8th place was enough to solve this problem. Tcherezov lost Svendsen in overall Sprint World Cup 10 points.

PRESS CONFERENCE of the sprint winners

     Ivan TCHEREZOV (Russia)

     - Of course, the track is difficult - a long distance with the high rises at finish. However the hardest thing was to cope with cold weather. We used to run at above-zero temperatures. I am very sensitive to cold. Hands are freezing, that's why I always put on the second pair of gloves. I have decided that better to lose a few seconds putting them on after the shooting than not to finish the race due to frozen hands. Such incidents have already happened.

     Christian DE LORENZI (Italy)

     - Most of all I was worried not with the race but with the cold. At finish I realized that the result was not so bad. I did my best.

     Andriy DERYZEMLYA (Ukraine)

-If you are in a good shape the race is easy for you. We try to make every race effective. We know that today’s start is a good training before the fight which tomorrow can be for the prize stages.
